Ultia

No-code/Low-code development platform.

Background

Ultia is an enterprise platform that lets companies from different industries run their corporate processes from a single place. It digitizes workflows without requiring extra hardware or infrastructure. Teams can start with ready made modules in HR, Finance, Facility Management and Customer Relations, or build their own apps inside Ultia Studio, a low code / no code environment. Everything built in Studio runs on both web and mobile.

Research

Initial Problem Discovery After years of digital transformation, companies wanted to run their internal operations without waiting months for IT or stitching together spreadsheets and disconnected SaaS tools. Business units knew their processes best, but had no way to turn that knowledge into working software. Most low-code platforms were either too rigid or too overwhelming, still demanding a developer mindset. Ultia was the chance to close that gap inside one focused studio, without asking the user to think like an engineer. Desk Research Before jumping into the studio's UX, I looked at industry reports and articles published before 2024 about how companies adopt low-code and no-code platforms, focusing on the gap between business users and IT teams.

Synthesis

Persona By bringing together findings from problem discovery, competitive analysis, and core user pain points, I created a persona to represent the ideal platform user. My goal was to give shape to the user's needs, frustrations, and behavioral patterns — so that every design decision could be built on a more focused and meaningful foundation.

Ideation

Developing a Solution With Ultia App Studio, non-technical users can build enterprise applications without writing a single line of code. This means that within the platform, business analysts and operations teams can create fully functional internal tools using drag-and-drop components, pre-built modules, and customizable workflows, ultimately leading to faster delivery and less dependency on development teams. As the UX designer on this project, I led the wireframing process for the core flows, working through mid-fidelity screens and collaborative sessions with the client to validate structure before any UI decisions were made. Throughout this process, several key insights emerged alongside a number of major improvements to the existing product.

Key Takeaways

- Enterprise platforms are often built around features, not people. Keeping the user at the center of every decision, even in the most technical contexts, is what makes the real difference. - Small design decisions compound. A well-thought-out interaction or a clear component structure doesn't just improve one screen, it shapes the entire product experience.
